Th hey used d to be b inseparable bl – childhood friends who conquered Hollywood, working the showbiz circuit and gracing red carpets for years as each other’s plus ones.
But the beautiful bromance between Ben Affleck and Matt Damon is thought to be over, with Matt moving on to a hotter, younger model – Aussie hunk Chris Hemsworth!
For months, Matt, 47, and Chris, 34, have been hanging out as a foursome with their respective wives Luciana Barroso and Elsa Pataky, in both LA and the Hemsworth family’s base of Byron Bay.
But tellingly, Matt and Ben haven’t been seen out in public together since early last year – and US sources say the Jason Bourne star’s wife and his PR team have warned him to steer clear of his former best friend.
“Luciana has banned Ben from their lives,” an insider reveals, adding that his camp have told him to keep his distance from Ben, 45, due to his bad-boy reputation.
Indeed, d d between b Ben’s ’ controversial relationship with Lindsay Shookus, his stints in rehab for alcohol addiction and being dragged into the Harvey Weinstein sex-abuse scandal, Matt’s camp believe Ben is bad for his wholesome brand.
Chris, on the other hand, seems to be the ideal candidate for a squeaky clean celebrity best friend, with his wife Elsa, 41, their three young kids, and no scandals to speak of.
“Matt and Luciana have been buddying up with Chris and Elsa in Australia,” the source continues.
“It’s like his long-time close friend Ben never existed,” says the insider.
And Matt’s so keen to spend more time with Chris, he’s even reportedly eyeing up a holiday home in Byron Bay on the NSW North Coast, where Chris and his family live!
“Hemsworth is a great friend of mine,” Matt says. “I’m really tight with him and his wife and the kids.”
