EMMA: ‘I FEEL CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO DATE AGAIN’
This isn’t Emma Fitzgerald’s first time on The Voice. She didn’t find success last year, but Boy George left a lasting impression by telling her to “let the love in” after facing an ongoing struggle with her weight and being bullied for her looks.
A year later, Emma, 28, has lost an incredible 50kg and feels more confident than ever. “It’s been a lot of hard work and dedication,” she says. “At my heaviest, I was 115kg. Now I weigh about 62kg.”
Emma, who now enjoys an active lifestyle, also admits her new look has spurred her to get back into the dating game. “I knew if I didn’t take that risk, I’d be single forever! The first date I went on I was shaking and on the phone to my friend, worrying he wouldn’t like me. But then I realised he was probably feeling the same. I’m still single – but it’s getting a lot easier!”
