Woman’s Day (Australia)

A HOME IN AUSTRALIA!

With plans to spend more time here, the couple are busy househunting

Prince Harry has instructed his staff to comb Australia for a rural retreat to share with his new wife, ahead of their tour Down Under.

Palace aides say the couple want to focus on strengthening ties with Commonwealth countries, especially Australia, where they will be heading in October for the Invictus Games. Woman’s Day has been exclusively told he’ll use the occasion to broker a deal on a rural bolthole, as a wedding gift to Meghan.

“Harry wants somewhere out in the bush that’s extremely private, within an hour or so of a major airport,” reveals our source. “He has a fantasy of finding a little vineyard, because Meghan’s talked at length about wanting to learn the process of winemaking.”

It’s believed Harry and Meghan plan to visit at least twice a year, especially with the renewed push for Australia to become a republic.

“The way Harry sees it, Prince William and Kate can focus on the UK countries, and he and Meghan can carve out a role as the faces of Australia and New Zealand. Buying property would show Aussies they’re serious about keeping the relationship strong,” says our insider.

But it’s not all business. “Harry [who spent his gap year here as a teenager] wants somewhere he and Meghan can go for a bit of breathing room and just relax in each other’s company – and he thinks the Aussie bush is perfect.”
