Jan 2001: Mary lives in Bondi Junction with friends. She had met Fred six months earlier at the 2000 Olympics.

Royal love story

Oct 2003: Fred pops the question with “you just have to say yes”, and the couple have their first official interview together.

Fairytale wedding

May 2004: Aussies all over the world tune in to see Denmark welcome Mary as their own in arguably the most romantic royal wedding ever.

A prince is born

Oct 2005: The couple welcome their first child, Prince Christian.

Back to her roots

Oct 2013: They return to Oz for the 40th birthday of the Sydney Opera House. Mary brings the family home every second year.

Taking on royal duties

Oct 2017: Mary has proven herself to be dedicated to her role as a royal. Here, she trains with the Danish army.
