MARIAH’S CASH CRISIS
It appears Mariah Carey’s bank balance is struggling to keep up with her lavish lifestyle! The star, who was worth $650 million in 2011, is reportedly struggling to sell tickets to the opening night of her Las Vegas residency next month – so much so “even the scalpers who bought a bunch of tickets are freaking out”. This comes after the singer, 48, “quietly” offloaded her $13 million, 35-carat diamond engagement ring from James Packer for just $2.75 million.
“Mariah has been very vocal about her choice to move forward,” her publicist insists. “That requires leaving baggage behind, including an old engagement ring from an ex-boyfriend.”
Sources also tell us that during her US tour last year, Mariah didn’t use her usual private jet and instead travelled by bus – and was even seen stopping at budget Chinese restaurant PF Chang’s in El Paso, Texas, during a 21-hour drive between gigs in Los Angeles and Dallas.
It’s certainly a far cry from the diva behaviour we’ve become used to!
