You’ll spot the line a mile away, but Eg­gslut is worth the queue and if you’re a food nerd like me, watch­ing the in­cred­i­bly or­gan­ised pro­duc­tion ion sys­tem in the kitchen will be half the fun. Their cult hero “Slut” is a cod­dled egg in a glass jar with potato puree, chives and baguette, but my pick is the Fair­fax roll – fluffy brioche with gooey scram­bled egg and punchy sriracha mayo. Two shops down is Christina Tosi’s fa­mous Milk Bar, so set off in a pair, send one per­son to man the Eg­gslut line while the other col­lects your morn­ing espresso – and a piece of Christina Tosi’s fa­mous Crack Pie for later!
