It was supposed to be a joyous occasion when Prince Harry’s new wife the Duchess of Sussex took to the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the first time alongside the rest of the royal family.
But as Meghan wowed fans in London last week, the annual Trooping the Colour parade was marred by a bitter and jealous Camilla, who cannot bear the attention afforded to the newest member of the family.
Royal sources tell Woman’s Day the Duchess of Cornwall was prepared to keep her head down at Meghan and Harry’s wedding last month, but with the 36-year-old new princess the centre of attention wherever she goes, she’s fuming.
And in a heartless move, Camilla chose Meghan’s first public event with the entire family to make her feelings known. Royal photographers caught her bitter attack on camera, with Harry and Meghan’s new sister-in-law Kate clearly unimpressed by Camilla’s cruel jibes.
“No one knows exactly what Camilla said to Meghan on the balcony, but she’s never one to hold back and she’s furious that Meghan has been so readily welcomed into the clan,” one royal insider tells Woman’s Day.
JEALOUSY TAKES HOLD
“She’s been in Charles’ ear about it for some time, but now she’s letting Meghan and Harry know exactly how she feels.”
Palace insiders say it’s Meghan’s close bond with the Queen just weeks after her wedding that has really enraged Camilla.
Last Wednesday, the new d duchess joined the Queen for an o overnight train trip to Cheshire, w where they joined forces on Th Thursday for a number of official e events. Not even Kate, 36, has w worked in such close proximity t to the monarch, who it’s said is t taking Meghan under her wing.
Shortly after Meghan and H Harry, 33, said “I do”, sources r revealed the former actress will b be learning the royal ropes u under the guidance of none o other than the Queen’s assistant p private secretary Samantha C Cohen. “It will be six months of listening,” the insider revealed, adding Meghan’s first meeting with Samantha took place immediately after the wedding.
While Camilla, 70, might be taking issue with Meghan’s warm welcome into The Firm, there’s no denying the rest of the royals love having the former actress on board in an official capacity.
While Meghan has developed a close relationship with Charles, she was also seen sharing a laugh with Kate throughout the day.
