Whatever will be...

I’m out of my mind hearing “it is what it is”. What does that even mean? During maddening telephone conversations I’ve heard that little beauty at least 10 times within 10 minutes! Every now and then a new saying comes up that drives me spare. Does anyone else go crazy when they hear a cliche and kind of wince inside?
