Rupert Murdoch back on track after a yacht injury
After a serious health concern, the businessman looks back to his best holidaying on the French Riviera
After suffering a serious back injury in January, billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch has been laying low. So much so his friends were concerned about his health but he’s back in form.
As our exclusive pictures reveal, the Fox boss is holidaying in the glitzy South of France with his wife Jerry Hall, and is back on his feet and clearly feeling better than ever. “I’m doing great,” says the 87-year-old Australian-born businessman. “I appreciate if anyone’s worried about me but they shouldn’t be.”
Fears for Rupert’s health were sparked in January when he slipped on his son Lachlan’s yacht in the Caribbean. He was airlifted to hospital suffering a compression fracture to his back and was housebound for months.
Since then, the usually very hands-on CEO was noticeably less involved in his businesses while he slowly recuperated at his LA home. “He’s largely MIA,” said a company insider.
Some also wondered if Rupert, who married model Jerry in March 2016, was testing retirement following a $14 billion deal to sell most of his company’s assets to Disney.
But no-nonsense Rupert has shot down such talk. “I’ve been busy with meetings at home and I’m looking forward to being back in the office in a couple of weeks,” he says.
But not before a sunny French break with Jerry! The smitten pair were in St Tropez to celebrate Jerry’s 62nd birthday on July 2.
“He’s completely wonderful,” Jerry has gushed about her husband, while insiders close to Rupert say he’s “very happy and completely in love” with his fourth wife. Now his health’s on the mend it’s business as usual!
