He’s an elite strength and conditioning coach, winner of body-building competition INBA Mr Natural Olympia and co-founder of 12-week fitness transformation program The Bod along with his wife Sophie Guidolin, and now Nathan Wallace has added a new skill to his repertoire – cookbook author! The father to sons Kai, 11, and Ryder, 10, and twin girls Evie and Aria, two, is on a mission to help families across Australia create healthy habits at home with quick and easy kid-friendly meals.

Who inspired your love of cooking?

It wasn’t until becoming a dad that I really got creative in the kitchen. I wanted to make fast meals for the whole family that everyone would love, with a focus on health and optimal nutrition.

How important is healthy eating to your family?

Vital. For my family, eating healthy is non-negotiable. We actively educate our kids about healthier choices and how foods make them feel.

How would you describe your kitchen?

Busy but organised! With a family of six, our kitchen is a high traffic area! We do a big grocery shop on the weekends, meal prep on Sundays and stock the fridge and freezer with meals for the week ahead.

What’s always in your fridge?

Our fridge is planned for maximum efficiency – grab-and-go snacks, portioned pre-cooked serves of chicken, sliced fruit, yoghurt for lunchboxes and individual serves of our favourite recipes ready to reheat for lunch.

How can dads get involved in the kitchen?

Cooking is a gift you can give the whole family and is not something dads should be afraid of. It doesn’t have to be complicated – the best food is fresh, fun and fast!
