Woman’s Day (Australia)

I CAN'T DO THIS ANY MORE!

After their final make-or-break holiday, the famous footballer has left his wife to set up a new life in Miami

They have doggedly tried to insist all is well in their 19-year marriage, but if the latest signs are anything to go by, David and Victoria Beckham’s marriage is all but over.

Woman’s Day understands they will undergo a secret trial separation as the weight of their increasingly independent lives and persistent rumours of infidelity continue to plague their once-fairytale union.

The pair, along with their four children, were seen last week on a family holiday in Croatia – but insiders close to the Beckhams say this was more of a final goodbye rather than an attempt to get things back on track.

LAST CHANCE

“The writing’s on the wall. David wants out, even though Posh is still clinging to the hope they’ll make this work,” says a source. “The holiday was more about the kids. If they’re truly going to split, they want to make sure the kids have some final happy memories of their mummy and daddy being together. David and Victoria aren’t fighting any more, they’ve simply grown apart.” Posh, 44, will remain in London, while David, 43, is set to relocate semi-permanently to a luxe bachelor pad in Miami, Florida, where he’s launching a soccer team.

“Victoria knows if she forced him to make this work, she’d be miserable anyway. There’s way too much temptation from other women in Miami. Already there are girls flashing their boobs at him in the street. Victoria feels setting him free will save her own sanity. Deep down, she knows their marriage has lost its way.”

The separation comes weeks after David was accused of getting his daughter’s teacher pregnant. The Beckhams strenuously denied this, along with rumours of a split. “There is no divorce, a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news. This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time,” a spokesman for the couple said.

Now, as he prepares to move to Miami, it’s all about making sure their children – Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, seven – feel happy and secure despite the upheaval.

“David and Victoria are united in that they’ll continue to peaceably co-parent,” says a source.

“It’s fairly likely Posh will have primary custody in an unofficial capacity because the kids are settled in London. But they’ll spend holidays with David in Miami.

“The kids mean the world to them – that’s why this last-ditch holiday was so important.”

HOLIDAY GOODBYES

It’s a tried and true celebrity break-up method. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, along with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, snuck their kids off to the Bahamas when they both split. Jen Aniston and Brad Pitt famously holidayed in the Caribbean over the 2005 new year, though they had already decided to separate.
