When Brad Pitt broke up with Angelina Jolie almost two years ago, he spent a long period in the doldrums.

But now he’s back on top both personally and professionally – and it’s all thanks to his good friend Leonardo Dicaprio!

Sources tell Woman’s Day the A-list power duo have become inseparable while filming their upcoming mega-movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. The much-talked about film has given Brad, 54, a spring in his step as he rediscovers his acting mojo alongside a raft of fellow A-listers including Margot Robbie, Al Pacino and Kurt Russell, to name a few.

“Brad wasn’t convinced by this project when it was first presented to him, but Leo made it his personal mission to talk him around,” reveals an insider.

“He explained to Brad this was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that was attracting the cream of Tinseltown for a very good reason: It’s a work of creative genius that requires the very best actors in the world.”

At the height of his charm offensive, Woman’s Day can disclose Leo, 43, would show up to Brad’s LA art studio armed with the latest copy of the script as well as updates on the latest members of the cast.

Eventually, his charm and dedication paid off.

“Leo told Brad he was perfect for the role, and that he couldn’t imagine anyone else filling his shoes if he turned it down. He was relentless, and over time he gradually wore him down,” says our source.

Now, the movie – due for release in 2019 and directed by Oscar winner Quentin Tarantino – is being hotly tipped to sweep the 2020 Oscars.

Set at the time of the notorious Charles Manson murders, the plot focuses on an ageing

out-of-work actor, depicted by Leo, and his sidekick stunt double played by Brad.

Margot will play Manson Family murder victim Sharon Tate, who was brutally murdered almost 50 years ago along with her unborn child and four others at her Hollywood home.

Other historical events from that era will be re-enacted by the glittering cast, which also includes Dakota Fanning, Damian Lewis, Timothy Olyphant, James Marsden, Luke Perry and Tim Roth.

Our insider adds, “This is one of the most eagerly awaited movies in years and Brad is thrilled that Leo talked him into taking the role.

“He’s not felt this energised about a project for as long as he can remember. He’s enjoyed bonding with Leo and getting back among his peers, who have lifted his spirits and taken his mind off the ugly battle that’s still going on with Ange.

“He’s undeniably right at the top of the Hollywood tree again, and there’s no doubt there’s a part of him that’s enjoying rubbing that in her face!”
