Woman’s Day (Australia)

Julia Roberts’ best body

Celebrity news Balance is the key for the Pretty Woman star, who has never looked better!

You could be forgiven for thinking Julia Roberts was half her age at a photoshoot in Malibu, California, last week, with her youthful complexion, megawatt smile and gorgeous mane of hair.

And Woman’s Day can reveal just how the Oscar-winning actress has got her best body ever, defying the fact she’s turning 51 in October! “For Julia it’s about eating healthy so she can feel healthy,” a close friend says.

“Mostly her diet includes lean protein, like chicken breast and lots of fish, and fresh organic vegies, fruit and some dairy, like yoghurt. She likes her carbs, and she prefers gluten-free.

“She has a nutritionist help her select and pair foods together and then she does the shopping herself. She loves to prepare all the meals for her family from scratch.”

Our source says the mum-ofthree also knows it’s OK to treat yourself from time to time. “She loves food and she’ll often have a slice of cheese and vegie pizza, or pasta if the mood strikes her.”

“Why is everybody scared of pasta? Pasta never did anything to you,” Julia has said jokingly. “Don’t be mean to pasta. As I always say to my kids, ‘ You have to eat the good stuff to get to the good stuff,’” the proud mum, who shares 13-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 11-year-old Henry with her husband Danny Moder, has said.

“For breakfast, Julia has homemade granola or muesli with fresh berries and yogurt. For lunch, a salad with grilled chicken, or pasta if she wants a treat. Dinner is wild salmon with quinoa and steamed vegies or sea bass with black bean salsa and grilled asparagus. She’ll have dessert sometimes – just not every day,” says the insider.

“She loves food but she keeps it simple and doesn’t heap on salt or butter. Instead, she enjoys the natural taste of the food she’s eating. It’s nothing packaged for her.” Of course, Julia also balances her healthy diet with exercise.

“She mixes it up so she doesn’t get bored,” says our source. “She loves yoga and Pilates because they keep her flexible and calm. She also likes aquatic exercises, which are easy on the joints but excellent for resistance.

“For more intensity, she does plyometrics [jump training] or step aerobics, lunges and squats and some light weights.”

Julia relies on her celebrity trainer Kathy Kaehler and they work out for an hour, four days a week. “I don’t love exercise, but I do love how I feel afterwards,” Julia recently revealed.

“Accomplishment, clarity, energy, strength, joy... these are all things I give myself through working out, and I can feel it in everything I do.”

He’s the Aussie TV star with a huge smile and a huge heart, as Grant Denyer is proving yet again. The Gold Logie winner and his wife Cheryl have thrown themselves into supporting drought-stricken farms across the country after sharing a heartbreaking image of their 11-hectare farm in Bathurst.

Labelling it “situation critical”, the TV host gave fans a glimpse of the dry and barren desert his patch of paradise has become due to one of the worst droughts on record. “This is how dry it is at our place,” Grant, 40, said.

“My wife took this photo of our backyard and paddocks. So dry, kangaroos are drinking out of our dog bowl. We’re lucky we don’t rely on the farm for income but so many in regional Australia do.
