Happy to DIY
If you’re al already familiar with doing you your own hair colour, why not have h a little fun with som some out-there shades? A range such as Schwa Schwarzkopf Live Colour only lasts la up to eight
washes, with the bonus of adding shine and condition at the same time.
Schwarzkopf technical expert Toni-anne Arbon says your imagination is the limit with this ready-to-use formula. “Try using two shades, picking up small pieces of the hair and alternating the colour.”
And if you’re after something a little more subtle? “Apply one colour just from the mid-lengths to the ends of the hair for something a bit softer.”
Toni-anne suggests pastel colours will show up and last longer on blonder hair, whereas the brights are best used on light to medium-depth coloured hair. “On dark shades of hair, the result will be more like subtle colour highlights.”
Zero commitment
All fun and no risk, spray-on colours are ideal for those who are a bit hesitant to take the complete plunge.
“I like to apply the colour onto the tips of the hair. Then, at the front of the hair around the face, I spray a couple of pieces from closer to the roots all the way to the ends,” Toni-anne explains.
“This is enough to see the colour and be fun and bold, without looking like you’re having a midlife crisis.”
