NICOLE DUMPED!

Her Big Little Lies co-stars are the best of mates, and Nicole feels left out in the cold...

-

While Nicole Kidman was busy making her first ever appearance at San Diego’s Comic-con on July 21, her Big Little Lies co-stars were hanging out without her.

Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern were spotted having a girls’ dinner at Hollywood hotspot Craig’s, and insiders tell Woman’s Day the timing may not have been a coincidence. Those close to the Aussie star say the photos have left her crushed.

THREE’S A CROWD

“It’s a slap in the face for Nicole to be left out in that way,” one friend explains. “They could have planned dinner for another night when she would be able to join them, but instead they did it when she was out of town.

“Reese and Laura were already really good friends before they started Big Little

Lies because they were in Wild together. They’re super close and always leaning

on each other. Nic ends up feeling like she’s left out in the cold.”

Nicole and Reese, 42, joined forces to develop the award-winning drama, based on the novel of the same name by Australian author Liane Moriarty.

But it was Nicole who became the centre of attention when the show aired, heralded for her harrowing portrayal of domestic violence victim Celeste. The 51-year-old beat Reese to a Golden Globe and an Emmy – and set insiders say things haven’t been the same between the women while working on the second season. In fact, it may be the reason Nicole is now being left out.

STAR OF THE SHOW

“When they started on this project, they were equals,” the insider reveals. “But Nicole became the big star of the show and it ended up being all about her. As happy as Reese was for her, it’s caused some tension on set.”

As Woman’s Day previously revealed, Nicole and Meryl Streep, who has joined the series for its second season, have also locked horns because they’re both used to being the one in the spotlight.

While Reese and Nicole have long denied rumours of a feud, sources say they’re not as close as many think they are.

“The fact is that Laura and Reese have known each other for longer and they have a very tight-knit bond,” our source says. “They hang out a lot and don’t feel the need to invite Nicole every time, even if that makes things a bit awkward when they’re on set.”
