Olivia Newton-john’s once again in the fight for her life as her cancer continues to spread – not that the inspirational singer’s going to let that stop her!

Fears for her health were sparked when she cancelled her upcoming Australian tour, but her publicist confirmed it was due to scheduling conflicts and “not illness”.

In May last year, Olivia revealed she had stage 4 breast cancer and it had metastasised to her sacrum – a bone in the lower back.

“There’s not much more they can do in terms of conventional medicine, so there is a question mark over her future treatment,” says a close friend. “I know she’s worried because the back pain has returned, but she’s certainly not ready to give up.”

According to friends, Olivia is still coming to Australia and has dinners and catch-ups with her girlfriends planned. “She’s very much looking forward to coming home to Melbourne. All her friends rally around when she’s in town.

Olivia’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi is also said to be seizing every day with her mum, deleting social media as it’s “distracting” her from “what’s real”. In June, she posted that her mother’s cancer battle is “the greatest struggle a daughter could go through”.

And it’s not just Olivia’s family who are giving her strength. According to sources, close friend and Grease co-star John Travolta has been one of her biggest supports.

Friends tell Woman’s Day Olivia refuses to allow any negative thoughts to dominate her, and is still determined to beat the disease and celebrate her 70th on September 26.

“She felt good after she finished her treatments,” says an insider. “She’s an incredibly positive person.”
