Who inspired your love of cooking?

Cooking was always the beating heart of my household growing up. Preparing food for others was a daily practice for my mum from as early as I can remember. Through shopping at the food markets, preparing, cooking and offering delicious food to her family and friends, Mum taught my brothers and I from a very early age that food connects people and makes people happy.

Describe your home kitchen...

My kitchen is a place of deliciousn­ess and chaos!

What are your pantry essentials?

Murray River Salt Flakes and Spiral Organic Tamari.

Do you have a fave cooking appliance?

My Chinese steamer basket set and my mortar and pestle.

What kitchen gadget couldn’t you live without?

I couldn’t live without my Furi Pro East/ West Santoku Knife – it’s like a Chinese cleaver and cook’s knife all in one!

What’s your favourite recipe to cook at home?

Any one of Maggie Beer’s roast chicken recipes with roasted vegetables and fresh green salad.

What’s your advice to people who want to get more involved in the kitchen?

When planning dinner parties, only cook what you love to eat yourself and always focus on sourcing fresh, seasonal quality ingredient­s.
