S he’s glammed every A-lister from Amal Clooney to Susan Sarandon, and has one of the world’s most successful beauty brands. Here, Charlotte Tilbury shares her tips for a flawless complexion.

PREPPING PERFECTION

Whether she’s doing a celebrity or herself, Charlotte makes sure skin is prepped properly every time. “You can’t have a beautiful painting without a beautiful canvas,” she says. “I never apply makeup without my Charlotte’s Magic Cream. It contains camellia oil, rosehip oil, bionymph peptides and hyaluronic acid – instantly flooding the skin with moisture.”

HIGHLIGHT HEROES

She’s the queen of contouring, but Charlotte says highlighting can be just as effective, if not more so, than heavy shading. “Contouring is Hollywood makeup 101, however precision highlighting and powdering will give you the most amazinglooking facial structure, too.” Concentrate the highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones, brow bones, the bridge of your nose and even your Cupid’s bow to fake fuller lips.

FINDING YOUR MATCH

One of Charlotte’s pet peeves is foundation shades that do not match your skin tone. “The most important thing is to test the colour in natural light to get your perfect match,” she says. “If the light is too dark, it’s likely your foundation will be too dark.” Applying too much base is a big no-no, too. “I use just enough to get really beautiful coverage, starting from the centre of the face and blending outwards,” she says. “I use my fingers a lot, because the warmth helps to blend it in properly.”
