PRINCESS EUGENIE’S PREGNANT!
The royal bride-to-be shows off her baby bump just four weeks before her wedding
Princess Eugenie is set to become the British monarchy’s first pregnant bride in modern history if palace insiders are to be believed.
Indeed the 28-year-old royal, who’s marrying wealthy businessman Jack Brooksbank in a lavish ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on October 12, was seen looking decidedly bumpy for a woman who’s been on an intensive pre-wedding diet and workout regimen since she announced her engagement in January.
And palace aides have revealed a pregnancy would come as no surprise – Eugenie’s longing to be a mum!
BUMP WATCH
Those who spotted the royal going about errands in London last week tell us, “She was wearing the classic dress any woman would if they were trying to hide a baby belly, but when the wind struck up, it seemed obvious she was trying to hide a bump.”
If Eugenie is an expectant mum, it would mean she’d become the first royal to say, “I do” while already pregnant.
“Eugenie couldn’t wait to become a mother, and if they have fallen pregnant unexpectedly she’d argue it may not be the most traditional way to become a royal parent, but no one can claim it’s a shotgun wedding, since they were already engaged when she conceived,” says a close friend of the princess.
HER MAJESTY IS FUMING
Unfortunately for Eugenie, her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, 92, isn’t so forward thinking.
“The Queen’s heard the rumours and is fuming. She’s waiting for her granddaughter to pick up the phone – or better still come and tell her the truth herself,” relays our insider. “The Queen feels like she’s earned the right to enjoy her twilight years without scandal and the last person she expected to affect that was her usually very well behaved granddaughter.”
But sources say Eugenie will argue the toss. If it’s acceptable for Prince Harry to marry a divorcee [Meghan Markle], then she doesn’t see why it’s not OK for her to be expecting a child with Jack, 32 – the man she plans to spend the rest of her life with.
One thing’s for sure, though – Eugenie has allies in her mother, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson and father Prince Andrew, both 58, and sister Princess Beatrice, 30.
“They’re a united front as a family. Fergie will stick up for her girls until she’s blue in the face – she refuses to let the royal
family’s outdated views bring her daughters down like they tried to do to her,” says the insider.
“Plus, she feels like she’s been waiting forever to become a grandma. She can’t wait for her girls to have children, no matter how they arrive. And Andrew is supportive, too.”
“Inwardly he’d have preferred Eugenie to be married before she fell pregnant but if it comes out that she is pregnant before her wedding, it’s a brand-new way to cement the Yorks into the history books as the most modern royals of all,” another royal insider explains.
“Eugenie will make a great mum and she and Jack are head-over-heels in love.”
