The former cricket captain and his bride score their happy ever after
Theirs is a love story that’s weathered its fair share of storms in the past six months, but Steve Smith and Dani Willis got their happy ever after last weekend, saying “I do” surrounded by friends and family in the stunning setting of Bendooley Estate in the NSW town of Berrima.
“Today I got to marry my best friend,” Steve, 29, wrote lovingly beside a glamorous black and white shot of him holding his beautiful bride Dani in his arms. “What an absolutely incredible day @dani_willis looked unbelievably beautiful.”
A close-knit group of guests gathered in the afternoon sunlight for the 4pm wedding, which was held in the lush
grounds of the Southern Highlands mansion.
Steve and Dani’s friends and family gasped with pleasure as she arrived in a gorgeous beaded couture gown with an epic train by Australian design house J’aton Couture.
Her dapper groom was dressed in a slick black tuxedo and bow tie.
Watching on were Steve’s teammates Usman Khawaja, Mitch Marsh, Moises Henriques, Pat Cummins and Aaron Finch, as well as Nathan Lyon and his estranged wife Melanie Waring.
Guests made the most of the picturesque setting, taking photos by the river before heading to The Stables for the swanky reception.
After performing the first dance, Dani, 27, wowed her guests once more by slipping into a mini version of her wedding dress with accentuated ’80s-style shoulders – perfect for partying the night away.
It’s been a challenging year for the couple who have spent the past months recovering from Steve’s ball tampering scandal in South Africa.
But through it all, Dani has been Steve’s rock, as his father Peter has revealed.
“She has been incredibly supportive and is his complete and absolute rock.”
