CHRISSY TEIGEN shares indulgent recipes your family will love

- By Chrissy Teigen (Penguin Random House, $49.99)

American model and author Chrissy Teigen’s passion for food is sprinkled throughout her hilarious and candid social media posts. “I wake up thinking about food and I go to sleep thinking about my next day of food,” says the mum-of-two and wife of All Of Me singer John Legend. In her second cookbook, Cravings: Hungry For More, the co-host of Nine’s Lip Sync Battle welcomes us into her life with comforting meals dished up with a side of her signature humour.

LIFE WITH THE LEGENDS

“John loved going to restaurants when we first dated but he’s since grown a passion for cooking. It’s something we enjoy doing together. It’s wonderful being able to sit with your family and gossip, laugh or watch bad TV while eating a delicious bite that brings everyone together.”

FINDING BALANCE

“John and I try to eat kind of low-carb. We eat a lot of protein and a lot of vegetables. Of course, there are always going to be decadent times. You want to be able to indulge and enjoy life and enjoy flavours.”

CLASSICS NOT TRENDS

“‘Trend’ means it’s going to come and go, and I want things to last forever. When I go to a restaurant, I want the thing that’s been on the menu for 30 years.”

USING SHORTCUTS

“Everyone should use frozen pie crusts – it’s genius! If you want to make a quiche, you just pour in cream and eggs and vegetables and pop it in the oven and it’s done.”

HOT AND SPICY

“Pickled jalapenos are my go-to. I put them in dishes like tuna casserole when I want that crunchy bite of heat, but I mainly just munch on them.”

GUILTY PLEASURE

“I eat fast food a few times a week. Sometimes I go a little crazy when things get nuts in LA.”
