They were once the most adored duo in Australia, but Woman’s Day has uncovered an ongoing secret feud between former golden couple Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue that has rocked their relationship to the core!
Kylie and Jason, who starred together in Neighbours as couple Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell, also dated off-camera for years, but in recent years their friendship has become increasingly strained.
According to several reports, Jason has been joking about having sex with Kylie during his current Amazing Midlife Crisis tour.
“As well as singing some of his most famous songs, Jason also shares stories with the audience about his career,” a source spills.p
“When asked whether there was a lot of Jason in the character of Scott Robinson, he cheekily replied that there was certainly a lot of Scott in Charlene.”
NASTY JIBES
The crude comments weren’t the only things Jason, who’s troubled past involves a battle with cocaine addiction, said that raised eyebrows.
The father-of-three also recounted the tale of how Kylie dragged him on stage at a gig in Hyde Park, London, last month to perform their 1988 number one hit Especially For You.
Jason says he was miffed the pop princess had ignored his previous attempts to get her to join him for a duet at one of his gigs.
“He said that’s why he didn’t sing during the track and talked about Kylie hogging the mic,” adds the source.
Insiders tell Woman’s Day Kylie will be furious with her former flame for making nasty jibes at her expense.
“Kylie is reserved when it comes to her personal life, and to say she won’t appreciate being the butt of Jason’s crude jokes is an understatement,” spills a source.
“Although Kylie has tried to stay on amicable terms with Jason, this is a sign that things aren’t as friendly between them as they’d have you believe. This has got to be really embarrassing for her.”
It’s not the first time Jason has been forthcoming with intimate details of his relationship with the songstress, who’s now dating GQ creative director Paul Solomons.
During an interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Jason openly discussed their sex life, claiming Kylie was the one who was after him.
“She chased me and then I guess I gradually gave in,” he revealed. “The next thing you know we were working and having this relationship.”
He went on to confess that their car-crash real-life romance ended due to Kylie’s solo success and his “jealousy”.
DROPPED
Kylie ended their three-year relationship over the phone in 1989, but her close friends believe Jason may have never gotten over it.
“It’s as if Jason is still bitter about what happened between them. It seems like there are some unresolved issues there. The bottom line is that Kylie broke Jason’s heart,” says a source close to the pair.
When Scott and Charlene said “I do” in 1987, the episode was watched by two million Aussies and nearly 20 million people in the UK.
