Is Doria coming too?
At the time of going to press, there were growing whispers Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland may make a surprise visit to Australia to join her daughter and son-in-law.
Doria would be a huge support to Meghan, for whom the 15-day tour will be both incredibly exciting and nerve-wracking.
“Doria relishes any opportunity to spend time with her daughter, and if it’s true that Meghan is pregnant, she would absolutely want her mum by her side,” says a source close to the royal pair. “There’s plenty of room at their Aussie mansion for her, and Harry loves having Doria around. She’s the type of mother figure he craved after losing his own mum.”
And it wouldn’t be the first time Doria showed up to delight fans at an official event – she was a surprise guest last month when Meghan launched a charity cookbook in London.
Making the 14-hour journey from her home in LA to Sydney would be effortless for Meghan’s 62-year-old “free-spirited traveller” mother.
“My mum was a travel agent, so offthe-beaten-path travel has always been a big part of my life,” Meghan says.
