The tennis star spoils his wife to avoid a marriage meltdown
Despite their marriage being plagued by rumours of a meltdown, it seems Lleyton Hewitt has won back his wife Bec – with a pricey new pressie!
The former Home And Away star has been spotted cruising around in a new Ferrari in Melbourne with her 12-year-old daughter Mia on board.
The flashy Italian sports car is thought to be worth upwards of $250,000!
“Bec and Lleyton have had their ups and downs but it seems like he may have bought her this Ferrari as a token of his love for her,” a friend of the couple explains.
“It’s not the kind of thing that Bec would buy for herself, and Ferraris don’t come cheap. It looks like this is an expensive way for Lleyton to get back in Bec’s good books!”
As Woman’s Day recently reported, the couple were
spotted openly arguing in public just months ago, and an insider revealed that the tennis ace “often feels trapped” with his 35-year-old wife wanting “all his time and affection”.
Now it seems the expensive gift did the trick, with Bec gushing that she and Lleyton, 37, “are happier than ever” in spite of persistent talk of trouble in paradise.
The petite blonde and the former world number one tennis champ first met as teenagers in 1999 at a charity tennis event. Although they were both in relationships at the time, they reconnected six years later.
“It was such a whirlwind, which I think was part of the reason why we ended up with such a lot of attention – because it was after only six weeks that we got engaged,” Bec says.
“All the family were so happy and supportive. I guess they just s saw the two of us together and s saw we were happy.”
After her marriage, Bec s stepped away from showbiz t to focus on her family. The c couple have three children – M Mia, 12, Cruz, nine, and Ava, w who turns eight this week.
Lleyton’s gift and the couple’s r renewed focus on their marriage, c comes as Bec makes her return t to the small screen, hosting TV travel show Helloworld.
“I’ve never been away [from my kids] before, so this will be my first trip. I’ve never gone on a girls’ weekend or anything,” Bec said as she took on her new role.
“It’s an exciting time for Bec and she’s happy to be back in front of the camera and doing her own thing,” reveals our insider. “Lleyton’s usually the one in the limelight, but now it’s her turn. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Bec and Lleyton but they’re in a good place now. It looks like their marriage is finally back on track… and they’ve got a swanky new car to boot!”
