The pop star’s baby joy is doubled
After revealing they were suffering from “baby fever” and “always practising”, last month a clucky Jessica Simpson and her husband Eric Johnson excitedly announced they were expecting their third child.
The pop star-turned-fashion designer said she “couldn’t be happier to announce this precious blessing of life” as she revealed she was pregnant with a baby girl.
Now, Woman’s Day can exclusively reveal the couple have an extra surprise – they’re pregnant with twins!
Sources say the 38-year-old mother-of-two is over the moon that her happy clan is doubling.
BIG FAMILY
“Jess has always wanted a big family but she figured she was done having kids after welcoming Ace [in 2013],” reveals an insider.
“To find out she was pregnant again was the best kind of surprise – and twins just makes this even sweeter!” Jessica and her husband Eric Johnson, 39, a former professional footballer, are already parents to six-year-old daughter Maxwell and son Ace, five. While the blonde bombshell previously vowed they wouldn’t be expanding their family further, saying, “I have two beautiful children and I’m not having a third,” Jessica’s thrilled to have been proved wrong. Believed to be four-anda-half months pregnant with twin girls, the news has brought her and her singersongwriter sister Ashlee, 34, even closer together. “Even though they’re four years apart, Jess and Ashlee are so close and in a lot of ways they feel like twins. Jess will be really excited to have three girls who will all share a bond like the one she has with Ashlee,” says a source close to the siblings. The star gained 27kg during her first pregnancy but took a stricter approach to her diet while expecting Ace. However, she’s been pretty chilled during her third pregnancy, happily indulging her cravings for ribs, macaroni and cheese, and Southern fried chicken and beans at Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ in north LA recently.
“Jess is realistic about the fact this is probably going to be her last pregnancy and she just wants to enjoy it,” our insider adds.
“Eric loves her pregnant body and finds her sexy no matter what size she is.
NO STRESS
“She knows she’ll lose the weight eventually and isn’t stressing about it – and she wants to pass on a positive body image to Maxwell. Jess likes her food and she’s making the most of eating for three!”
That’s not to say Jessica isn’t busier than ever. Along with her successful fashion line, beauty brush collection and perfume, she’s been working on a new studio album, her first in more than eight years.
“Being a mum is her favourite role of all but she won’t stop working either,” the insider says.
“Even though Jess will take some time off after she gives birth, she’s going to keep building her empire. She loves being a powerful businesswoman who calls all the shots, and she wants to be an inspiration to her kids.”
And while Jessica and Eric didn’t plan on having two new bundles of joy on the way, they’re thrilled about becoming a family of six.

“They know twins are going to be a handful, but they’re ready to take on this challenge,” says the insider.
“Their kids are the most important thing in their lives, and they have so much love to give.
“One baby would have been a blessing, but two is a dream come true!”
