They were married for 11 years and adopted two children together, but when it comes to their divorce, Nicole Kidman has remained fiercely tight-lipped.
The 51-year-old has claimed that her silence is because of her 12-year marriage to Keith Urban. “Being married to Tom Cruise at 22 is something I’m always reluctant to talk about, because I’m married now to the man who is my great love, and it almost feels disrespectful,” she said.
But in a shock revelation, the Aussie beauty has spoken out about her relationship with 56-year-old Tom, saying he protected her during their time as husband and wife.
“I got married very young, but it definitely wasn’t power for me – it was protection,” she said. “I married for love, but being married to an extremely powerful man kept me from being sexually harassed.”
Sources believe that now she’s speaking about her relationship with Tom, it’s a sign the Lion star has forgiven him.
“Nicole spent years resenting Tom and it’s rare for her to so much as utter his name,” a close source spills to Woman’s Day. “This may well be her way of letting Tom know that she forgives him. She’s put the past behind her.”
