WINE AND DINE LIKE A PRO WITH TIPS FROM LANGTON’S HEAD OF WINE AUCTIONS

-

Know your budget

Setting a price range doesn’t make you any less sophisticated, and spending more doesn’t always make it better. For great value, try Australian riesling – it’s delicious and affordable.

Do your research

Look up the wine list beforehand to know what your options are. Take photos of wine labels you’ve enjoyed to keep track of your favourites.

Ask the waiter

Explain what you enjoy and draw on their knowledge. Be open to trying something new and choose wines by the glass so you can taste test without committing to a whole bottle.

New regions

Keep an eye out for wines from South Australia’s Basket Range, Sicily’s only cool-climate region, Etna or Portugal’s Douro.

Have fun

Enjoy the experience and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Wine preference is personal so there is no wrong choice. Swirl, smell and sip away!
