Nursing home protectors turned evil predators

2011: ROGER DEAN

Eleven elderly patients died in a fire at the Quaker’s Hill Nursing Home in NSW. Nurse Roger Dean started the blaze to cover up the theft of 238 painkillers from the home’s treatment cupboard. Dean is serving a life sentence – with no chance of parole.

2013: GARRY DAVIS

Staffer Garry Davis injected three residents of Summitcare nursing home in Newcastle, NSW, with insulin. Gwen Fowler, 83, and Ryan Kelly, 80, died as a result of the injections. In December 2016, Davis was found guilty and sentenced to 40 years in jail.
