The new order of succession
Harry and Meghan’s firstborn will be seventh in line to the throne. Prince Charles is the heir with Prince William second in order of succession, followed by his three children, George, Charlotte and Louis. Harry is sixth in line.
And although baby Sussex will be the offspring of a prince, he or she will not be a prince or princess or hold the title HRH due to a royal decree made by King George V in 1917. However, the Queen could decide to change this.
If Harry and Meghan have a daughter, she would be Lady Mountbatten-windsor, while a son would become the Earl of Dumbarton.
