5 things you didn’t know about LOVE ACTUALLY!

-

It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since much-loved romcom Love Actually hit our screens – and quickly became a Christmas tradition! As we gear up for the festive season once more, here are a few things we bet you didn’t know about the heartwarming film… 1 It may be a staple of the cheery season, but

Love Actually was never intended to be a Christmas film! And, according to director Richard Curtis, the film's first edit was “a catastrophe”. Richard says he was still unhappy with it when it eventually hit cinemas. 2 There were originally 14 separate love stories, but four plot lines were cut from the film – one about “an African couple supporting each other through a famine” and another involving “a stern headmistress who was nursing her lesbian partner through cancer”. 3 Claudia Schiffer was never meant to be in the film. Richard wanted to cast someone who looked like her, but he couldn't find anyone. He ended up offering her the part and she took it. 4 Thomas BrodieSangster, who played lovesick Sam, was taught to play the drums for the film by his dad – and he still plays to this day! 5 The word “actually” is said 23 times throughout the film.

?? ?? Bonus fact: Bill Nighy wasn’t the first choice to play Billy Mack, but he nailed the audition.
