It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for! After five years of dating, Woman’s Day can reveal A-list couple Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx are finally engaged.
“Their friends have been waiting for this day to arrive,” explains a close insider.
“They’re soulmates and committed to spending the rest of their lives together. Now, at long last, they’re ready to make it official.”
Katie – who shares 12-year-old daughter Suri with former husband Tom Cruise – was seen boasting a glamorous diamond on her engagement ring finger during a break from filming The Secret on October 30.
The simple but classic round solitaire diamond on a silver band was noticeably more humble than the ring Tom proposed with in 2005.
The Top Gun star popped the question at the top of Paris’ Eiffel Tower with a ring featuring a five-carat Edwardian cut oval-shaped diamond at its centre. It was thought to be worth about $350,000.
Still, Katie, 39, couldn’t have looked happier as she showed off her new sparkler. And she and 50-year-old Jamie appeared simply smitten when they were photographed together later that day, despite not yet announcing their plans to wed.
“It makes sense that they don’t want to share their news with the world yet,” spills our insider.
“The pair are extremely private and there are sensitivities surrounding Suri and Tom. Not to mention loathing the scrutiny about their relationship that has hounded them since day one.
“Katie and Jamie are used to hiding their romance and while they’re relieved to no longer be keeping their love under wraps, they want to hold on to some of that privacy. They’re not about to start shouting from the rooftops.”
But they’re excited about starting their new life together, with friends saying Jamie and Katie would love a baby together. In fact, some friends believe they may already be pregnant – with Katie looking a little bumpy on set. “It’s not like they haven’t been trying.”
For now, insiders say wedding preparations are well underway – and the couple have already picked the perfect spot. Friends have let slip they’ll tie the knot in Paris, where they holidayed together last year. “Paris is the city where they have decided to make things official after years of sneaking around,” spills the insider. “It has special meaning to them both, so it would be the perfect place for them to become husband and wife.
“They’ll have an intimate ceremony with close family in attendance. Katie and Jamie are extremely serious about each other, but their wedding will be low-key – just how they want it!
“Katie has always wanted this and can’t wait to be Jamie’s wife. She’s never been happier!”
