‘I’M LETTING MY HAIR DOWN!’

KARISE EDEN The first winner of The Voice is back with a new look, a new album and – just maybe – a new addition!

- by Karise Eden is out now

K arise Eden’s vocal power ensured she cruised to victory on the first season of The Voice in 2012. Since then, the 26-year-old talent has released two albums and gone on to forge a quietly successful career – as well as become a devoted mum to her three-yearold son Blayden. But now Karise is back with a bold new look and her powerhouse third album Born To Fight.

How is this album different from your earlier work?

This one’s a lot more fun! The Karise Eden people are familiar with can be a little raw and sorrowful. This time I’m letting my hair down a bit more.

What’s prompted the transformation?

I think becoming a mum gives you confidence in a different way. Being a parent means you sort of get a bit fierier and you know what you want. I’m more confident in where I stand and who I want to portray myself as and what I want to be as a singer. I’ve come into my own.

Would you ever do another

reality show, like I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here?

No, it’s probably not for me. I think I’m too down-to-earth and I think my outlook on life is probably best kept for the bush. I’m probably too politically incorrect!

Do you still keep in touch with your mentor Seal? We talk maybe once a year and have a bit of a catchup. Everything is good and it’s nice to know he’s still there for me. Your son is almost four. Do you want more kids? Well, I’m on a big property so I’ve got the room for a million kids but I think now a smaller family is probably wiser. Another one or two maybe. How long have you been with your partner? Wade and I have been together about a year. He’s a construction worker. My son’s father and I separated quite a while ago. It’s good, ‘I’m on a big property so I’ve got room for a million kids!’ we’re very amicable and my son still spends a lot of time with his father. Is marriage on the cards for you? Oh yep. But I’ve got a busy few years ahead – album, tour, wedding, baby! Just trying to plan my whole future out! BORN TO FIGHT
