ROBERT’S DIVORCE SHOCK
After years of struggling to hold their marriage together, Robert De Niro has finally called it quits on his marriage to Grace Hightower.
In a statement last week, the Goodfellas actor revealed, “Grace and I have two beautiful children together. We are entering a period of transition in our relationship which is a difficult but constructive process.”
Grace, 63, and 75-year-old Robert were married in 1997 and share son Elliot, 20, and daughter Helen Grace, six. The couple first split in 1999 but renewed their vows in 2004.
“They’ve been living apart for months now, and word was starting to get out that they’d split,” spills a Woman’s Day insider. “They’ve loved each other for more than 20 years, but couldn’t figure out actually being together.”
“I honour Grace as a wonderful mother and ask for privacy and respect as we proceed to develop our roles as partners in parenting,” says Robert.
