David Beckham appears to be sending a pointed message to his wife Victoria amid their marriage woes – if they split, he wants custody of their only daughter.

While the 44-year-old former Spice Girl tended to business in the US last week, soccer star David remained in their native UK, spoiling the seven-year-old apple of his eye rotten.

And he made sure her mum knew about it, posting plenty of footage with their pint-sized princess having the time of their lives at an ice-skating rink in London.

The 43-year-old also posted a poignant Instagram picture sharing a sweet and tender daddy-daughter kiss.

“David and Victoria’s friends are definitely seeing this as shots being fired,” a close insider reveals to Woman’s Day.

“Everyone knows David and Victoria are on the brink of a split – there seem to be way too many things going on in that marriage for it to survive much longer. The biggest bone of contention if they divorced wouldn’t be money – it’d be who gets primary custody of the kids.”

“In recent years, it’s been David who retired from soccer and has been playing Mr Mum with the kids while Posh builds her fashion empire.

“He’s developed a loving and extremely strong bond with Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and little Harper,” says a source.

“The kids will be old enough for a judge to factor in their personal choice but it’ll be a fight for their affections, in particular Harper’s, who appears to be a real Daddy’s girl.”
