Another cruel attack on Meghan
The new duchess is devastated by a so-called friend’s vicious outburst
As if it wasn’t enough that she’s constantly harassed by her own estranged family, now the Duchess of Sussex is under attack from a man she used to call a friend.
Polarising British TV host Piers Morgan last week launched a scathing verbal assault on the 37-year-old former actress, accusing her of “ghosting” him the same day she was set up with Prince Harry, and branding her a “ruthless social climber”.
In his weekly column with Mail Online, Piers claims he’d struck up a friendship with Meghan when she messaged him on Twitter in 2015, telling him she was “a big fan”.
Piers says the pair got so close she used to share information about upcoming episodes of Suits before they went to air.
In June 2016, Piers reveals he shared a drink at his local London pub with Meghan, where she asked if she could appear on his morning show.
“From the cab, Meghan sent me a series of texts thanking me and saying she was looking forward to meeting up next time we were in the same city. She even publicly tweeted about how nice it was to see her friend – me – in London,” the TV host spills.
That was the night she met Prince Harry, and Piers never heard from her again. He didn’t hold back his feelings though, sharing that he’d been “played by a B-list actor… clearly just using me” to advance her career.
“The whole experience has left me cynical and suspicious of Ms Markle,” says Piers. “Anyone or anything that may not give her what she wants or gets in the way of her social climbing selfadvancement gets discarded.”
Piers’ comments follow weeks of accusations leaked from the palace that Meghan’s a nightmare boss who “demanded” the use of a tiara for her wedding, and threw a tantrum when the Queen denied her wish. It’s been reported she’s made her sister-in-law Kate cry.
Sources close to Meghan say she’s devastated by the negative press. “Meghan never expected the tide to turn so quickly,” says a close royal source. “This is a real learning curve for her.”
