Katie adopts... The new year brings wedding bells – and a baby – for the happy star!
As Katie Holmes lovingly tossed her adorable little co-star in the air, the pair giggling with pure joy, it was clear the former Dawson’s Creek actress has finally found true happiness after years of heartache.
Katie’s trademark grin has become a fixture on her face once again and Woman’s Day can reveal it’s because she’s preparing to take the next step with her partner of five years, Jamie Foxx.
Not only are the couple planning a breathtakingly romantic wedding in Paris early in the new year, sources also tell us they’ve already started the adoption process, and are hoping to have a little one of their own by their side for when they say “I do”.
Spurred on by her close connection with her young co-star on the set of her new film The Secret in New Orleans, it’s believed Katie and Jamie are looking to adopt a daughter from a poverty-stricken area of Louisiana.
“Katie and Jamie have spent some incredibly happy times in New Orleans while she’s been filming,” says our source. “They were there when they had the vision to adopt.
“There have been a lot of official-looking visits to Katie’s trailer when Jamie’s around, and everyone’s thinking it could be lawyers assisting them with adoption papers. At least, everyone hopes it is! They’ll be amazing parents together, and both of them absolutely adore children.”
DREAM COMES TRUE
It’s widely reported that 50-year-old Baby Driver star Jamie already plays an unofficial father figure to Katie’s 12-year-old daughter Suri, whom she shares with her ex-husband Tom Cruise.
“Suri might never see her real dad, but she doesn’t feel like she’s missing out. Jamie showers her with attention and treats her
like his own. Suri’s very excited to have a little sister to play with. She’s at the perfect age for it,” our source reveals. “She’s wanted a sibling ever since she was old enough to realise she was an only child, and now the dream is coming true.”
CHILD IN NEED
While Jamie, who is already a doting dad to Corinne, 24, and nine-year-old Annalise, was said to have wanted a biological child with Katie, the 39-year-old convinced him otherwise. “She’s happy to have had Suri, but she feels like her pregnancy days are behind her,” adds our source.
“After witnessing so many kids needing homes in New Orleans, she wants to adopt a child in need. As soon as she suggested it, Jamie was all for it.
“He loves how kind and selfless Katie is, but this idea just blew him away. They’ve spent many nights in New Orleans discussing their hopes and dreams for their child.
“What convinced them to go full steam ahead was when they told Suri – and her response was pure joy. Katie knew then that adopting is the right thing to do.
“Katie can’t wait to have Suri as a bridesmaid and their new daughter as a flower girl at their wedding,” our source adds. “She feels their family will be complete.”
