SCENIC WORLD, KATOOMBA, NSW

-

Josh the Scenic Cableway driver assures us the pod won’t crash and splinter into a million pieces on the floor of the Jamison Valley 500m below, but that doesn’t stop the squealing from riders as it launches itself steeply into the gorge.

Scenic World, in the NSW Blue Mountains an hour west of Sydney, is as much about its four cool attractions as it is about the majesty of the towering landmarks and ancient rainforest. Scenic Skyway, Scenic Railway, Scenic Walkway and the Scenic Cableway each showcase a different view of the area.

Skyway gives everyone a thrill when a glass-bottom floor is revealed as we cross between the clifftops to Echo Point, 720m away. The Railway is the world’s steepest, managing a 52-degree tilt, while the Scenic Walkway sees 2.4km of boardwalk pass through the rainforest, where you can learn about its history, geology and eco-system.
