4 Sculpey III Oven-bake Clay in White (available at spotlights­tores.com) rolling pin mug or jar lid scalpel doily needle or punch tool baking paper green and gold paints small paintbrush dowel rods (2.1m in total) twine scissors 1 Preheat oven to 130°C. 2 Roll out white clay into a large shape, about 5mm thick.

3 Using circle and oval shapes, such as a cup or lid, lightly press into the brush to paint in the etched pattern of the doily on the decoration­s. Use varying colours of gold and green, leaving some plain white to create variety.

10 While the paint is drying, make the dowel tree by cutting the dowel rods into 6 varying sizes. We used increments of 10cm (10cm, 20cm, 30cm, 40cm, 50cm and 60cm).

11 Use twine to tie together the 6 rods and hang on wall.

12 Cut small pieces of twine and tie around each decoration, securing with a knot.

13 Hang the decoration­s on each rod to create your very modern Christmas tree!
