Sandra Bullock in fear

Celebrity news Sandra Bullock’s fears for her family’s safety reach boiling point

-

She’s a proud mum to son Louis and daughter Laila but when it comes to her kids, Sandra Bullock is one very protective parent. Now, the actress has revealed the extent of her harrowing fears for her children’s safety.

The 54-year-old has had several terrifying experiences with stalkers over the years, so when it comes to protecting her family she knows no limits.

Since she became a mum to her two adopted children Louis, eight, in 2010, and Laila, six, in 2015, Sandra is the first to admit she’s constantly paranoid about her family’s wellbeing.

“I now realise what it feels like to be afraid every single day because I love my kids to the point where I’m a little neurotic with what’s happening out in the world, and wonder whether I’m a good mother,” she says.

The actress – who has been dating 52-year-old photographer Bryan Randall for more than three years – admits that when her kids are at school, she often worries she’ll receive bad news.

“When I leave the house and they’re at school, I check my phone constantly,” she confesses. “Did the school call? Are you gonna get hurt? If they’re leaving with somebody else, I panic.

“I have to learn how to relax within a world that spins that kind of worry, and remind myself and my children that it’s also a hopeful place.”

YEARS OF TORMENT

In her latest movie, postapocalyptic thriller Bird Box, her role particularly resonated – she plays a petrified mother trying to save her children from a being that feeds on fear.

Yet her heightened worries and woes for her young family’s safety are not unwarranted.

The Miss Congeniality star has had more than her fair share of torment over the years, including at the hands of a woman named Marcia Valentine who was convicted of stalking her after

lying outside her home and then trying to run over her then-husband, West Coast Choppers founder Jesse James, who she divorced in 2010.

Sandra also obtained a restraining order against Thomas Weldon for stalking in 2003 and renewed it three years later. Weldon spent time in a mental institution, then travelled across multiple states to hound Sandra again.

But the most terrifying of all her experiences came in 2014, when stalker Joshua Corbett broke into her home while she was there. He was sentenced to five years probation and in 2018 he ended his life after a police siege.

HEIGHTENED SECURITY

“It’s no wonder Sandy’s constantly afraid something will happen to her kids – after everything she’s been through,” an insider says.

Woman’s Day can reveal Sandra has now ramped up security at home in a bid to protect her family.

“Sandy has the best security money can buy, including stateof-the-art technology and roundthe-clock surveillance. She says you can’t put a price on your kids’ safety,” spills our source.

“But that still doesn’t stop her from worrying about Louis and Laila whenever she’s not with them. She loves them so much and would do anything for them.”

Fortunately, Sandra has the support of her partner Bryan, although she admits he has an “understanding of fearlessness” when it comes to parenting, which is the complete opposite to her parenting style.

“I’m afraid and I want to make sure I do everything in my power to protect these two beautiful children that I’ve been blessed to raise,” Sandra says. “This is one of the ways Bryan has been a good influence on Sandy,” our insider says. “Her kids’ safety is paramount, of course, but he’s doing his best to teach her how to relax and let go just a little bit when she can.”
