Phoebe Tonkin ‘WORKING WITH JACKI WEAVER WAS A DREAM COME TRUE’

She first fififirst appeared on screen as lovable Cleo on H20: Just Add Water at just 17. But more than 10 years on, Phoebe Tonkin has establishe­d herself as one of our finest acting exports.

She appeared on US blockbuste­r TV show The Vampires Diaries and now s she’s come home to work o on Bloom, a Stan original s series that sees her join A Aussie screen legends Jacki W Weaver and Bryan Brown.

The six-part “gothic f fairytale” ventures into the p pursuit of eternal youth as th the characters are faced w with a dilemma whether to re relive their adolescenc­e.

It was a project Phoebe sa says was too good to pass up up. “All these amazing actors w who I’ve looked up to for a lo long time are attached to it!”

We meet Phoebe’s ch character Gwen as an ailing, frail eld elder played by Jac Jacki, before sh she’s presented wi with a miracle fru fruit that rei reinstates her you young self, pla played by Phoebe. Phoebe “[ Jacki] is an acting legend and a wickedly quick, smart, funny lady. It was a real honour to play the younger version of her,” says Phoebe.

“She popped in one day when I was on set so she could watch how I talked and my body language – she’s just so good at what she does,” she adds.

Packed To The Rafters’ Ryan Corr also stars. “The show gets pretty dark [but everyone was good at] keeping the morale up and keeping it light, fun and easy. Ryan was a great buddy for me on set – it’s needed when you’re shooting in harsh conditions,” she adds.

It turns out Jacki and Ryan aren’t her only industry friends. The star reveals she’s a long-time pal and admirer of Margot Robbie. “I remember h hearing about Heath L Ledger making sure e everyone felt part o of the community. I would say she’s t taken on that b baton a little bit,” P Phoebe says. Bloom, B on Stan now
