No one wants to miss out on summer fun simply because they’re trying to lose weight. But now there’s no need to! Dropping the kilos this season doesn’t need to mean boring food and no sweet treats. Stay cool in the heat by enjoying a delicious freezer snack every day alongside a healthy, balanced diet – and watch the weight fall off!

What to do

Pick one calorie-controlled breakfast, lunch and dinner from the lists on these pages. Select one daily iced treat. Have 300ml skimmed milk a day. You can use this in tea or coffee, or have as a separate drink if you wish. Aim to walk 10,000 steps a day. This usually means moving around for at least an hour and a half, but ideally use a pedometer to track your steps accurately.

Lunches

1 medium-sized jacket potato (oven cooked or microwaved) topped with a handful of prawns and mixed with 1 tbsp reduced-fat mayonnaise. Serve with 1 chopped tomato, a cucumber salad and 1 kiwifruit.

85g guacamole served with a combination of vegetables. Try a mix of carrot, pepper and celery crudites and 2 oatcakes.

2 taco shells filled with green leaves, slices of tomato and peppers, served with 4 tbsp canned beans in

chilli sauce and a matchboxsized lump of reduced-fat cheddar, grated. Small frozen mini-sized cheese and tomato pizza with a large green salad and a little fat-free dressing. 1 x 300 calorie (maximum) storebought sandwich. Plus, a piece of fresh fruit of your choice. 300g bowl of low-calorie store-bought vegetable soup with a quarter of a garlic baguette.
