Nicole & Keith at odds

As Sunday and Faith step into the spotlight spotlight, their superstar parents are not seeing eye to eye

When Nicole Kidman made the surprising decision to allow her two young daughters to break into the acting business, she proudly proclaimed, “It’s made us all closer.”

After spending years shielding Sunday, 10, and Faith, eight, from the harsh glare of the spotlight, Nicole described how her daughters’ roles on the new season of Big Little Lies gave them “a stronger understanding of what I do”.

FIGHT OVER LIES

But while the 51-year-old insists the experience has been a positive one, sources tell Woman’s Day that Nicole’s husband, Keith Urban, doesn’t necessarily feel the same way.

“They were always on the same page when it came to keeping the kids out of the spotlight and now Nicole seems to be heading in a different direction,” says a source.

“Keith wasn’t too keen on the kids working on

Big Little Lies, but Nicole just seems to be forging forward. They’ve had a lot of cross words over it – which is unlike Keith – but so far Nicole’s not backing down.”

While the couple continue to put on a public show of unity, Nicole appeared to be showing signs of strain while taking a break from filming in New York, with Sunday close by her side last week.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the US, Keith, 51, didn’t look to be faring any better, with the singer appearing downcast as he attended several business meetings in Los Angeles.

“You kind of picture Keith as this adorable, friendly rock star, but on that day, he looked really out of it,” says an onlooker. “He looked like he’d rather be anywhere else.”

Nicole has previously revealed she sets boundaries for her girls. “They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram. I try to keep some sort of boundaries,” she’s said.

DOWNWARD SPIRAL

Nicole has also said how the children were “not usually that interested” in her acting roles – something that seems to have changed in recent months, causing major concern for Keith.

“He fell victim to the pressures of being a star and ended up in a downward spiral of drug addiction,” the source tells.

“Sunday and Faith are incredibly smart girls, but any father would fear the worst.

“There’s no way he wants to risk that for his own children. Nicole sees this as a totally different experience, where her children can work alongside her and she can look after them.

“But Keith says that can’t be the case forever.”
