The Duchess of Sussex finally has an ally within the royal family – her stepmother-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall!
Woman’s Day can reveal the pair have struck up a firm friendship in recent weeks, after bonding over a shared disdain for royal protocol – as well as their mutual dislike for the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William.
‘THICK AS THIEVES’
“They have been speaking on a daily basis and are now as thick as thieves,” an insider shares. “Camilla made the first move, by reaching out to Meghan. She knows more than anyone how difficult and isolating it can be within the royal family, but now she finally has an ally – and she’s taking full advantage.
“Meghan was thrilled to have the support, and has taken Camilla up on her offer to forge a new alliance.”
But with that alliance comes more difficulties for an already dejected Kate, 37, who was left heartbroken after Meghan made her cry in the lead-up to the actress’ May 2018 wedding.
And Woman’s Day has learned rned Kate ewas was once more reduced to tears after a recent confrontation with Camilla, 72, and Meghan, 38, at Buckingham Palace. It came after the mum-of-three attempted to extend an olive branch to Meghan, offering her some warmadvice warm advice that
“every royal goes through a bad patch” with press scrutiny, but insisting they “get through it”.
A palace staffer has revealed security staff saw the heartbroken duchess retreating and close to tears on CCTV footage soon after, suggesting the meeting, at which Camilla was present too, did not go as she had planned.
“Camilla hates how Kate’s become the Queen’s blatant favourite family member,” another royal insider explains. “She agrees with Meghan that she needs taking down a peg or two, and they’re brainstorming ways of doing just that.”

News of the pair’s scheming is said to have infuriated senior royals who are already reeling from a series of embarrassments.
“Camilla has done this behind everyone’s backs,” adds the source, noting she first reached out to Meghan when Prince Charles, 70, was s on royal duty in Japan. “Camilla and Meghan Megha are the biggest troublemakers in the family by far.”
