Ththe groom-to-bbe appearedd tense as fiancee Bindi looked close to tears
They’re one of Australia’s favourite couples, known for their loving and supportive relationship. But last week Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell were spotted having a tense argument outside a local Sunshine Coast shopping centre.
Now there are fears their relationship could be on the rocks. An onlooker reveals the usually happy couple looked “seriously strained” and Chandler appeared to have all-but had enough. “There wasn’t a smile between them. They were clearly having a tense conversation and Bindi looked anxious… like she didn’t want to be there. As for Chandler, he was fuming.”
Friends tell Woman’s Day the pair have been “fighting like cats and dogs” ever since announcing their engagement four months ago, putting the wedding – and their relationship – in jeopardy.
“It’s just too much,” says an insider. “Bindi is feeling the full weight of mending the family feud, as well as the stress of trying to blend her family with Chandler’s and make sure everyone’s happy. On top of that Terri is putting pressure on them both to organise a huge production at Australia Zoo and is even talking about televising it – it’s a lot for anyone, never mind two people in their early 20s. Bindi is also well aware Chandler has sacrificed a lot to be by her side and she can’t help feeling guilty that the fun seems to have gone from their wedding planning.”
Adding to the pressure was the fact that the week before, Chandler, 23, was spotted coming out of a Beerwah chemist with what was thought to be a pregnancy test. “If Bindi and Chandler are indeed pregnant then that would be playing on their mind too. Of course they’d be overjoyed – Bindi’s always wanted to be a mum – but it’s a case of timing and right now they’re really struggling with just the wedding.”
With all the big decisions on their plate, Bindi, 21, and Chandler may delay their big day. “If they don’t get things back on track soon everyone’s worried they’ll have to delay the wedding to a time when they can really enjoy it.”
