NICOLE’S HEARTACHE: ‘I CAN’T DO THIS ANY MORE!’
Even a trip to the beach ended in cross words for the tense couple
It was supposed to be a relaxing break for Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban, who jetted into Sydney for a short festive stay. But even a dip in the Pacific Ocean didn’t prove cathartic for the couple – they appeared extremely emotional as they emerged from the water at Whale Beach.
“Keith looked like he was in tears,” a witness tells Woman’s Day of the couple. “Nic was clinging to him like there was no tomorrow, but she didn’t seem able to console him at all.”
Insiders close to the couple of 13 years say gruelling schedules between them – Keith’s tour dates and Nicole filming – are taking their toll on the pair, with Keith particularly at the point of “burnout”.
“Nic insisted they come to Sydney for Christmas, given it’s pretty much a tradition, even though she could only squeeze a few days out of their schedule and still insisted he came along – it’s a huge trip to make from their place in Nashville, regardless of if you’re flying first class like they do,” says our source.
“Keith in particular has had a horrific schedule recently and the jet lag nearly killed him. He begged her to stay in Nashville for Christmas since he’s performing there on New Year’s Eve, but she wouldn’t hear of it.”

Onlookers at the beach speculated Nicole, 52, was “mothering” Keith, also 52, as she grabbed his arm while appearing to be attempting to hold back tears. “She was all over him and seemed very concerned,” says our source. “Whatever she said wasn’t helping, though. Poor Keith looked totally wrung out and at the end of his tether.”
Life doesn’t appear to be getting better for the pair, who are parents to daughters Faith, nine, and Sunday, 11. “Keith has loads of tour dates coming up, in Vegas and then Europe,” says a source.

to Sydney was possibly the worst thing for Keith – but she’s begged him to ease up on the touring for the sake of his health.
“She’s shocked about how much he’s aged and not even a couple of days at the beach seemed to help. All he could talk about for their entire break in Sydney was work.”
And when Keith gets manic about touring, sources say Nic fears the worst for her husband, who is a reformed alcoholic and drug addict. “He’s done so well to stay sober basically since they got married,” says our source. “But Nic fears Keith is at his breaking point now, and when that happens, she’s terrified he’ll revert to his old ways. “She’s spent 13 years trying to keep him clean – it’s getting exhausting for her now and you have to wonder how much longer she can go on like this.”
