TOGETHER WE’LL HEAL

- ERIN HOLOHAN EDITOR, WOMAN’S DAY

For decades we have celebrated the Aussie summer – a time for coming together and making the most of all our country has to offer. But sadly, this one we will remember as the summer Australia was heartbreakingly brought to its knees.

It is near impossible to find the words to describe the devastation, the pain and the suffering Aussies across the nation have endured in the wake of the bushfires that have ravaged our beautiful land, leaving so many with so little.

Here at Woman’s Day, like so many of you, we have been desperate to help those in our community, many of them our readers, who will now be forced to restore their lives from the ashes. Today, we launch our Rebuild Our Towns campaign, supporting the Australian towns affected by the bushfires, now and for the months to come.

Each week, we’ll be shining a spotlight on an Aussie town in need of rebuilding. Readers will be given practical advice about how they can help – from where to donate to local fundraisers, to providing the supplies most desperately needed and supporting small businesses in townships doing it tough. This issue of Woman’s Day kicks off the campaign with Glen Innes in northern New South Wales, a town that was devastated by fires in November and is now facing the daunting task of piecing itself together once more.

In addition to the Rebuild Our Towns campaign, this week we’ll also be donating 50c from every issue sold at retail to bushfire relief.

Brick by brick, one town at a time, together we will heal our beautiful country.
