The carefree star adds a barn-style retreat to her property portfolio

Having a house in the fancy Hamptons is every A-lister’s dream, and Drew Barrymore has made it a reality by shelling out $8 million on a property in Sagaponack. The delightful 1920s six-bedroom, six-bathroom shingled farmhouse is less than two kilometres from the beach, with all the charm of the rustic Long Island locale.

“Drew loved the idea of an old barn and its history,” a source reveals. “She saw this barn and fell in love with it. She came to look at it on her own... She didn’t want a mega-mansion. It’s in a pretty normal little neighbourhood.”

Normal for those with megabucks, that is! But Drew, 45, is a homebody at heart these days, after spending her early years partying. “It’s almost like I was never at home,” the mumof-two laughs. “I was always out and about. And it’s funny, because you’d have to take a crowbar and a spatula and a forklift to get me out of the house now!”
