THE DOG HOUSE WELCOME TO TROY KINNE ‘I’VE WANTED TO DO THIS SINCE I WAS A KID!’

There’s never a dull moment in the lives of these pooch lovers

-

Described as First Dates for dogs, this adorable matchmaker show that pairs pups with new owners is perfect isolation viewing. But beyond all the cute and fluffy, the staff at Wood Green animal shelter are doing important work to rehouse and rehabilitate vulnerable hounds. Woman’s

Day sit downs with two of the shelter’s experts to find out what goes on behind the scenes and how we should be looking after our fur babies in lockdown.

As well as taking out the top spot on Ten’s Pilot Week in 2018 with his hilarious hit show Kinne Tonight, Troy has been making people laugh since he was a kid! The funnyman, 42, sits down with Woman’s Day ahead of the show’s second season and opens up about his Paul Hogan-obsessed family and what he’ll never make fun of.

What’s been keeping you entertained during this lockdown period?

Well, I edit the show so I’ve weirdly felt guilty for having something to do during lockdown! I’ve found myself trying to pretend I’m also bored when friends are venting to me over the phone about not having any more shows left to binge.

Did you always want to work in the entertainment industry?

My parents loved The Paul Hogan Show to the point where their birthday parties had fancy dress themes based around it! When I was in high school,

I was obsessed with The D-generation’s The Late Show. On a Year 10 school camp to the Northern Territory, a mate and I would essentially steal the school video camera from the bus, quickly film some sketches and then put it back. During the bus ride [back, we were] watching the video footage to pass the time.

Have you ever received backlash or criticism about a skit perhaps going too far?

I try not to touch on any subject that will make someone feel unhappy. In my stand-up I purposely don’t reference real people or celebs or anything relating to death. But I’ve also learned that even when you’re so conscious about it, you can’t avoid displeasing someone, and you can limit the joy for others if you restrict yourself too much! KINNE TONIGHT
