Can you tell us about one dog you absolutely fell in love with and wanted to keep? Is it hard saying goodbye to them?

One day we got a call about a little dog who was found giving birth by the side of the road. When she was brought to Wood Green she was shaking, scared and clearly under-socialised. Sadly, none of the puppies survived, but she really pulled at my heartstrings so I decided to foster her to provide some respite. Fostering soon turned into

a fforever hhome as sheh fitfit right into my life and was the sweetest, kindest dog.

Have you always wanted to work in a dog shelter? Would you say it’s your dream job?

I had honestly never considered working at a rehoming centre until one day at my job behind a till at a garden centre, a stray dog appeared while we were closing up. I soon found out the journey that dog was about to go on after being taken to Wood Green. I enquired then about volunteering and soon after, I applied for a job that came up once I realised what a fantastic and rewarding place to work it would be. People often say, “I’d love to have your job,” and my reply is “Yes, yes you would!”
