Tom’s still nowhere to be seen on his daughter’s big day
She was once the most famous toddler in the world, but Suri Cruise shocked fans last week when she stepped out looking seriously grown up. Posing for happy snaps on a New York street to celebrate her 15th birthday on April 18, the teenager looked the perfect mix of her famous parents Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.

And given her uncanny resemblance to her actor father, many speculated when, and if, Suri will ever reconnect with the Mission: Impossible star.
As Woman’s Day previously reported, the pair haven’t been spotted publicly together in eight years and Katie’s mainly raised Suri as a single mum since filing for divorce from Tom, 58, in 2012 after five-anda-half years of marriage.
But the strained relationship with her father hasn’t seemed to impact Suri too much. Despite her Hollywood heritage, the teen appeared down-to-earth as she took snaps with a friend, with no security in sight. It’s a stark change from the days when Suri was followed by hordes of photographers while being carried in Tom’s arms.
Even Katie has marvelled at how different life is for Suri these days. “I did recently see some fan site [about her] posted when she was a baby, and it was very intense,” says the 42-yearold actress. “We were followed a lot when she was little.
I just wanted her outside, so I would walk her around to find parks at, like, six in the morning when nobody would see us. But there’s one video where I’m holding her – she was two at the time – and she starts waving at the cameras. She’s pretty special.”
‘Suri came out very strong... she’s very focused’
Despite Suri’s early life in the spotlight, Katie’s tried hard to keep her daughter humble.
“Katie has done things right with her because she’s very grounded – she doesn’t come across as spoiled or like a celebrity kid at all. She’s kind and she always shows gratitude,” says an insider.
And the former Dawson’s Creek star says she’s proud of who her daughter has become.
“She came out very strong – she’s always been a strong personality. She’ll pick an activity and work her butt off until she’s really good at it. Then she’s like, ‘OK, I’m going to try the next thing.’ She’s very focused and a hard worker,” says Katie, who marked her only child’s birthday with a sweet post on social media.
“Happy 15th Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!!!!!!!
I can’t believe you are already 15!” she wrote alongside some never-before-seen snaps of Suri’s childhood.
